MX record settings
Set up MX records for Qboxmail domains so inbound email is delivered to the correct mail servers.
MX records define which mail servers emails addressed to a specific domain must be delivered to.
To receive emails addressed to your domain, active on Qboxmail, you must set the MX records we provide and remove the current ones through your provider’s DNS management panel.
You can use Qboxmail services regardless of the provider with which you registered your domain, as long as you have access to your domain’s DNS management panel.
MX records with Qboxmail Label
Remove the current MX records and replace them with the following:
Primary MX: mx01.qboxmail.com with priority 10
Secondary MX: mx02.qboxmail.com with priority 20
| Name/Host/Alias | Record type | Value priority | Destination |
|---|---|---|---|
| @ or leave blank | MX | 10 | mx01.qboxmail.com |
| @ or leave blank | MX | 20 | mx02.qboxmail.com |
Once you have changed your domain’s MX records, you can verify that they have been applied correctly from a terminal or shell by running the “nslookup” command, which should return a result similar to this:
$ nslookup -q=mx esempio.it esempio.it mail exchanger = 10 mx01.qboxmail.com esempio.it mail exchanger = 20 mx02.qboxmail.com
White Label MX records
White Label MX records are available for Resellers to set on users’ domains. By using White Label MX records, any direct reference to Qboxmail will be removed. You can download the PDF file with the White Label Parameters (login required) for service access from the customer area after logging in.
White Label configuration is included in the service fee.
Private Label MX records
If you have purchased the Private Label service, you can customize the MX records by entering your domain name.
Private Label configuration is a project-based service and is not included in the service fee.
Automatic MX record check
The Qboxmail Control Panel periodically checks that DNS settings are correct and automatically indicates, with a red icon, which domains have encountered MX record issues. Once any issues have been fixed, you must wait for the outcome of the automatic checks on the following day.
A warning about issues with the domain’s DNS configuration does not automatically mean that the email service is not working; it is only an invitation to check that the MX record settings are correct.
