Plus Addressing
Plus Addressing
Plus addressing lets you create variations of your main email address by adding a “+” followed by a keyword. Messages sent to these variations are delivered to the same mailbox.
How it works
If your address is name.surname@domain.com, you can use variations such as:
name.surname+newsletter@domain.comname.surname+supplier@domain.com
You don’t need to create aliases or new accounts. All messages arrive in the main mailbox.
You can use plus addressing to:
- Separate sign-ups, newsletters or forms from general communications
- Identify where an address was registered
- Create automatic filters to sort incoming email into dedicated folders
Rules in the Webmail
- Access the Webmail
- Setting → Rules
- Create a new rule: condition “Recipient contains” and enter the keyword after the “+”
- Select the action “Move to folder” and choose the target folder
- Save the rule
Note
Using unique labels helps you understand if a service has shared or sold your email address. If you start receiving email sent to an address with “+label” from senders unrelated to the original service, the contact was likely shared. At that point, you can create a rule that blocks or automatically moves those messages without changing your main address.
