Microsoft Outlook

Configure Microsoft Outlook for Qboxmail email, address book, and calendar services using the required settings.

In this guide we will configure the Microsoft Outlook client to access the email, address book, and calendar services offered by Qboxmail.

This makes it possible to keep the email, address book, and calendars available in Webmail synchronized with Microsoft Outlook as well. New contacts or events created in Webmail will also be visible in Outlook, and vice versa.

Info

If you need to configure your email account using Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync, go to the dedicated guide.

What you need

  • An active email account on Qboxmail
  • A domain with a Professional or Enterprise plan to access the Address Book and Calendar sharing services
  • Microsoft Outlook (version 2013 or later recommended)
  • CalDAV Synchronizer plugin (downloadable here)

Compatibility

There are no minimum requirements for using Outlook exclusively as an email client configured with POP/IMAP and SMTP. To also use Outlook as a calendar and address book client, we recommend using version 2013 or later and the CalDAV Synchronizer plugin updated to the latest version.

Info

Access to the Address Book and Calendar sharing services is available only for domains with a Professional or Enterprise plan

Calendar and Address Book configuration

To enable synchronization and sharing of the address book and calendar available on the Qboxmail platform, you must install the Outlook plugin from the link in the What you need section.

After downloading the plugin, unzip the zip file, double-click the Setup file in the folder, and complete the installation procedure. When finished, open Outlook, or restart it if it was already open.

After restarting Outlook, follow these steps:

  • Click the CalDav Synchronizer tab
  • Open Synchronization Profiles
  • Click the second icon (green + with white squares)
  • In the window that opens on screen, select Sogo and confirm by clicking the ok button

The fields to configure the connection to the Qboxmail platform will then appear on screen.

  • Name: choose a profile name
  • DAV URL: https://dav.qboxmail.com/SOGo/dav/
  • Username: the email address of the account to configure
  • Password: the account password
  • Email address: the email address configured in Outlook

After filling in these fields, search for the calendars and address books on the server by clicking Discover resources and assign to Outlook folders.

In the window that opens on screen, you can choose or create the folders where the contacts/calendars found by the plugin should be saved. To do this, click the … button corresponding to each resource found. If you need to create new folders, make sure the folder content is correct (calendar-type items or contact-type items).

After finishing the folder configuration, you can specify the interval in minutes for automatic resource synchronization (30 minutes by default) and other preferences. Then confirm by clicking the ok button.

To run the first synchronization:

  • Click the CalDav Synchronizer tab
  • Click Synchronize now
