Email DeliveryManagement

Suppression list

Manage the Email Delivery suppression list to block addresses that bounced, complained, or must not receive messages.

The suppression list contains all email addresses that must no longer receive communications. This list includes addresses that generated a bounce or that reported received messages as spam (complaints). Addresses that generate a bounce are automatically added to the suppression list, while addresses associated with complaints must be added manually.

Remember

Managing subscriptions and unsubscriptions for the lists used for promotional campaigns remains the responsibility of the application used to send the emails.

When sending a campaign, the suppression list automatically prevents sending to all contacts that must no longer receive communications, even if they are still present in one or more distribution lists. Messages blocked by the suppression list are not counted among the sends performed by the account. When manually adding one or more addresses, you can choose whether to apply the block globally or limit it to specific accounts.

The following information is shown for each address:

  • Delivery enabled/Not enabled
  • Email address
  • Account (indicates for which account that address is in the suppression list)
  • Reason (bounce or complaint)
  • Category (cause of the bounce)
  • Date added

In the last column, using the button, you can remove the address from the suppression list or enable or disable email delivery.

The suppression list can be filtered to quickly find the desired addresses. Clicking the Filter button opens a side panel on the right side of the page containing the available filtering parameters.

The available filters are:

  • Accounts: lets you filter addresses based on the accounts for which the block is active;
  • Delivery: lets you view addresses with delivery enabled or disabled;
  • Reason: filters addresses based on the reason they were added to the list, choosing between bounce and complaint;
  • Category: lets you filter by problem category, such as capacity, DNS, or recipient;
  • Date added: lets you filter addresses based on the date they were added to the suppression list.

To apply the selected criteria and activate advanced search, click the Apply filters button.

Remember

The suppression list can be exported in CSV format using the Export CSV button. The generated file will take into account any filters applied to the current view. Exported files will be available in the Data Export section.

Suppression list details

Clicking one of the addresses in the suppression list lets you access all information and settings related to the selected address. The content is organized within a secondary sidebar, which lets you easily navigate between the different available sections.

Details

In this section, you can view the details of why the address was added to the suppression list and for which accounts.

Restrictions

This section shows the blocking rules associated with individual accounts. Through the Delivery status item, you can choose whether to allow or block email delivery to the selected address. In the Involved accounts section, you can define which accounts the restriction applies to. The block can be extended to all accounts by enabling the dedicated toggle, or applied only to specific accounts by selecting them manually using checkboxes.

Add an address to the suppression list

When a send is not delivered correctly, for example in the event of a bounce, the recipient’s address is automatically added to the suppression list. You can also manually add addresses to which restriction rules should be applied, either by importing contact lists or by adding individual email addresses.

Manually add an address to the suppression list

To add an address to the suppression list, select Suppression list in the Control Panel sidebar. If there are no addresses yet, click the + Add address button in the center of the page to import or add the first addresses. If other addresses are already present, click the + Address button above the table, on the right side of the page. Once the Add an email address to the suppression list page opens, select the Add single address mode.

On this screen, you need to:

  1. Enter the email address to add to the suppression list in the dedicated field;
  2. Select the reason for the exclusion, choosing between bounce or complaint;
  3. Configure the blocking rules, choosing whether to apply the restriction to all accounts or only to specific accounts;
  4. Click the Add button at the bottom right to complete the operation.

At the end of the procedure, the address will be added to the suppression list

Import a list of addresses

To add an address to the suppression list, select Suppression list in the Control Panel sidebar. If there are no addresses yet, click the + Add address button in the center of the page to import or add the first addresses. If other addresses are already present, click the + Address button above the table, on the right side of the page. Once the Add an email address to the suppression list page opens, select the Import suppression list mode.

On this screen, you can upload the suppression list file by dragging it into the box in the center of the page or by clicking the box itself to select the desired file from your device. Using the example Download .CSV file button, you can download a template that is useful for correctly creating the file to import, reducing the risk of errors during upload or data processing.

Info

You can import .CSV files containing up to 300 email addresses.

The .CSV file must follow this structure:

  • Email address: the first column must contain the email address to add to the suppression list. This field is required.
  • Reason: the second column must indicate the reason for adding the address to the suppression list. Accepted values are bounce or complaint. This field is required.
  • Sending account: the third column can contain the account IDs (in the format SXXXXXXXXXX) to which the rule should be applied. If the field is left empty, the restriction will be applied to all accounts. To associate specific accounts, enter the IDs separated by commas.

After uploading the file, you can remove it by clicking the Remove button and repeat the upload operation. Once the file is confirmed, click the Add button to start the import. If the upload is completed correctly, all addresses in the file will be added to the suppression list. If errors occur during the import, the box will show an error message that can be viewed in detail using the Show details button.
