Archive
Manage archive service settings from the Qboxmail Control Panel for domains and email accounts.
Archive is a service that can be enabled on a domain's email accounts to automatically archive, search, and export all messages received and sent by those accounts in the cloud, retaining them for up to 10 years with no storage space limits. To enable an archive, you must have at least one active domain.
Archive is an optional paid service.
List of domains with archive
The list of domains with archive includes all domains in Qboxmail systems on which the archiving service is active, with their detailed information. To view the archive list, click Archive and then Domains in the Control Panel sidebar.
Information shown in the list of domains with archive:
- Status
- Name of the domain on which the archive is active
- Number of email accounts with archive enabled

List of email accounts with archive
The list of email accounts with archive includes all email accounts belonging to a domain on which the archiving service is active, with their detailed information. To access the list of email accounts with active archive, click the name of the domain the account belongs to in the list of domains with archive.
Information shown in the list of email accounts with archive:
- Status
- Email account address with archive
- Number of archive years
- Number of active delegates

Add archive to a domain
To add the archive service to a domain, click Archive in the Control Panel sidebar,
click the Archive button, and complete the activation procedure steps. Once the procedure is completed, the archive will be active
on the email accounts of the domain you selected and all new messages received and sent by those accounts will be archived automatically.
Step 1 - New archive
Choose the domain and the email accounts belonging to it on which to enable the archive.
- Select the domain on which you want to enable the archive.
- Select the email accounts you want to archive.
The number of email accounts on which the archive can be enabled varies based on the configured limits.
Step 2 - Archive retention
Set the default retention period (from 1 to 10 years) for email accounts with archive.
Messages whose receipt / sending date exceeds the selected retention period will be automatically deleted from the archive.
Step 3 - Archive new accounts
Choose whether to automatically enable the archive by default for new email accounts that will be added to the domain.
The number of email accounts on which the archive can be enabled varies based on the configured limits.
Step 4 - New archive summary
To complete the procedure, click the Activate button. Once the creation procedure is completed, email accounts with archive will be visible in your list of email accounts with archive.
The additional cost of accounts with archive enabled will be calculated based on your account's billing type.
Add archive to one or more email accounts
To add the archive service to one or more email accounts belonging to a domain with archive already active, click Archive in the
Control Panel sidebar, open the details of the domain to which you want to add the email account by clicking the domain name, click the
+ Email account button, and complete the creation procedure steps. Once the procedure is completed, the email accounts will be visible
in your list of email accounts with archive.

To complete the procedure, click the Activate button. Once the creation procedure is completed, email accounts with archive will be
visible in your list of email accounts with archive.
The additional cost of accounts with archive enabled will be calculated based on your account's billing type.
Domain archive settings
To change an archive setting, click the name of the domain with archive enabled that you want to modify in the list of domains with archive and select Settings from the available tabs.

To change an archive setting, click the name of the email account with archive enabled that you want to modify in the list of email accounts with archive and select Settings from the available tabs.

Import messages from an email account into the archive
To import messages present in an email account with archive enabled, click the name of the email account in the list of email accounts with
archive, select Details from the available tabs, and click the Start import button.
Importing lets you add to the archive all old messages currently present in an email account, dividing them by year between received and sent. The import will go back in time for a period equal to the archive years configured for the account archive.
You can import only messages from an email account configured with the IMAP protocol.
- Click the
Start importbutton. - Select the folders present in the email account and choose where to archive the messages they contain.

- Complete the procedure by clicking the
Importbutton.
The import procedure can be performed only once and may take a few hours to complete.
At the end of the procedure, a confirmation email will be sent. You can follow the import status in the email mailbox details section.
Once the import is finished, if necessary, you can delete the messages from the email account to free up space.
Disable / re-enable a domain archive
To disable the active archive on a domain, in the list of domains with archive click the More button next to the domain you want to disable and select Disable from the menu.
When the archive is re-enabled, all messages received and sent by the domain's email accounts with archive will continue to be archived, and you will be able to access them.
Disable / re-enable an email account archive
To disable the active archive on an email account, in the list of email accounts with archive click the More button next to the account you want to disable and select Disable from the menu.
When the archive is disabled, all messages received and sent by the account will continue to be archived, but you will not be able to access them.
To re-enable the active archive on an email account, in the list of email accounts with archive click the More button next to the account you want to re-enable and select Re-enable from the menu.
When the archive is re-enabled, all messages received and sent by the account will continue to be archived, and you will be able to access them.
Delete a domain archive
To delete the active archive on a domain, in the list of domains with archive click the More button
next to the domain you want to delete and select Delete from the menu, confirming the operation by clicking the Delete
button inside the modal.
Deleting the archive permanently deletes all archived messages of the domain's email accounts with archive.
Deleting a domain archive is irreversible.
Delete an email account archive
To delete the active archive on an email account, in the list of email accounts with archive click the More button
next to the account you want to delete and select Delete from the menu, confirming the operation by clicking the Delete
button inside the modal.
